Favorite foods... hmm... so many foods out there, but my favorites would have to be Japanese hibachi style grilled kobe steak and shrimp...

Thai iced tea would have to be my favorite beverage out there besides blackberry sage tea...

When alcohol comes into the picture I would have to say Jack Daniels or Guiness...

As for dessert... Mint Chocolate Cookie by Ben and Jerry

i would be seriously remiss in never mentioning oatmeal stout. it's dark & rich-tasting like regular stout, but sweeter, not with a bitter edge. &...oh yeah!...chickory coffee! Blackmoor, you mentioned a Thai dish; years ago i tried a delicious Thai hot soup made with coconut milk but i can't remember the name of it. know what i'm talkin' about?

My favorite thai soup would have to be To(a)m Yum Gai, chicken in lemon grass soup...  it is a little spicy but it doesn't call for the coconut milk... here's a link to the recipe:

As for a thai hot soup made with coconut milk it could be Tom Kha Kai, coconut chicken soup:

I know that coconut milk is often called for in the making of curry.  Hope this helps Holden.

Holden, If you make to Dallas anytime soon I have some oatmeal stout in the fridge.  It was great the weekend I bought it, but since then I just haven't had the taste for it since.  You are welcome to it.

Having survived the early '70s on gallons of coffee, beer, pizza and donuts, I haven't been too fond of coffee since.  It doesn't taste as near as good as it smells.  But make it with enough chickory and I can't pass it up.  And if its double boiled, like my grandfather used to make it, I like it even better.

  (I know the coffee drinkers are screamming in agony at that thought!) .

Egg bagels are best, but ONLY when you get them in NY. Some people just don't quite get the art of BOILING BAGELS instead of BAKING them.

That's a good recipe Holden.
Add a dash of Tony Chachere's and a pickled green bean spear and you'll have a La. Bloody Mary.     :color:
