Well here are some of what I consider to be "simple pleasures:"

1.  roaming the cemetery
2.  reading a dark/gloomy/heavily death-ladened book
3.  communing with Azrael AND His children
4.  listening to gloomy, rich funeral dirges
5.  enjoying mourning poetry
6.  looking @ cemetery angels/monuments in books
7.  lighting black candles, scooping up a skull and doing a spell or ritual of darkness
8.  sitting quietly holding a human bone...contemplating life AND death
9.  wearing all black, closing your eyes and feeling engulfed by Azrael
10. walking through catacombs feeling all the dead entombed
11.  sitting on a fresh grave and connecting with the newly buried/or long since buried
12.  photographing the cemetery during the Fall with all the black, gnarled trees, the leaf strewn grass, the cold, lonely angels, mausoleums that stretch up to the gloomy, cloud-ridden sky........
13.  watching a movie on a quiet evening like The Omen, The Haunting, Rosemary's Baby, Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things, Nekromantik, House by the Cemetery, 13 Ghosts, The House on Haunted Hill, Puppet Master, Phantasm, Funeral Home, My Boyfriend's Back, Joe Black, Mortuary Academy, KISSED, Psycho, CEMETERY MAN........the list is endless
14.  Writing dark death-related poetry in a cemetery

Love,
 darky   rip
P.S.  You've gotta know by now I live death!   rip

By the way Morgan, I just noticed your challange to an obnoxious duel that you issued some time ago... hmm, being obnoxious certainly is a simple pleasure, so I guess it fits here.

Okay, get this. Future scenario. I'm about to walk into a pub with a friend when a tramp on the roadside asks if I can spare any loose change... I ignore the tramp and go into the pub, muttering to my friend something along the lines of, 'If I gave him money he'd only spend it on drink.'

This represents a depths that I hope to one day reach.  :pissedoff:

I like knitting lace edgings with leaf patterns, leper bandages, and other articles I & others use.
Walking, swimming, writing and reading.
Thinking about death as romance, feeling my brokenness.

Musicman, that is absolutely hilarious, but it makes people want to laugh, not wallop you upside the head.

Now to get back on topic;
Simple pleasures:
1)  Having and end of the world pot luck on the roof of our complex with all my fellow apartment dwellers as the bombs come it.  (I picture us all toasting the planes, as they drop whatever they're destroying us with, but I'll probably be drinking rootbeer instead of booze, 'cause it ain't as bad for your health.)

2)  I actually did this once, along with a friend of mine.  We had a minor earthquake, and we both broke out in that song, "I feel the Earth move under my feet. . ."  Would I do that in a major one?  Hell yeah!!!!!  That was kinda fun.

3)  We are due a MAJOR storm for this weekend.  I can't wait.  (I did all the shopping to-day, instead of half of it.)  If it comes down an inch an hour or something, I am going to stand on the edge of the covered walkway with a cup of Good Earth creamed China black, and look down the hill we live on, to see if Mission Blvd. becomes Mission River.

4)  Burping contests, or other guerrilla theatre at restaurants.  Of course you gotta tip REAL high, so they let you back in again.

5)  Talking about our impending economic collapse, potential military invasion from other countries, corporations sending our jobs oversees and destroying the standard of living, how there is no hope in the world anymore, and how glad I am not to be a child in the hearing range of children.

(Musicman, I think I win this round. :eyemouth: )

Oh yes! That's a very impressive salvo of obnoxity. I think that the 'conversation of hopelessness' is a particulary good one, so long as other people can overhear it.
Talking about pensions, how that are worthless and how everybody will soon have to work until they die, is always bound to bring a little more joy to everybody's day.
Okay Morgan, I confess, you ARE currently ahead on obnoxious points, but I shall try and think of more obnoxities of my own.... the war shall continue!

I will write down all new material I can think of, and probably lose sleep over it, but this war is definitely on my list of cheap thrills.  :eyemouth:
