Well looks like Don Coscarelli (Phantasm 1-4, Bubba Ho-Tep) has sold the rights of the Phantasm Franchise to New Line Cinema.

They are going to do a trilogy for the cinema, not sure if they are goint to be remakes, or a continuation, but they plan on using Angus Scrimm as the Tall Man, and Reggie Bannister as the Ice cream truck driving, three barrelled shotgun weilding avenger! but its not concrete.

you can read more about it at these two websites:

Phantasm 5

Phantasm News

I hope they rock  :headbang: cause they are some of my favourite horror movies to do with 'Death' save Dellamorte, Dellamore aka Cemetery Man.  :eyemouth:

Booooooooooooooyy!  :eyemouth:

KEWL!!! I hope that they return to the quality of #1 and 2. The other two (especially 4) were just AWFUL!!!

Number 1 is a classic for sure! My friend in Galveston is good friends with "The Tall Man". Say's he's a real "pussycat"

AWWWWWW! That's  so COOL knowing the actual "Tall Man"!
Did you get to meet him, Leilah?
(what great pics those would be, Leilah and Daniel next to the "Tall Man" at the Westgate!)

Oh this would just be so awesome!!! I have been a Phantasm nutcase for years and years!! I have them all on video, DVD, laserdisc... I even have some of the workprints of video. Phantasm has always been at the top of my list of favs! I hope they make it (them) soon because Angus Scrimm is somewhere in his very late 80's, I do believe. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of exchanging emails with Reggie Bannister, and even speaking on the phone with the man who set-up that ever-so-awesome pink hearse wreck. That wreck so so incredible, the way it spun through the air!!

YES!! Bring on more Phantasm!!  :headbang:

#4 was made with a budget of under 1 million dollars, and Don simply made it for the phans. I have a promo copy of the film that cost me a few bucks way back when. I had that a month before the film was even released! I still have it because it is illegal to sell! LOL I did really like the way he used unused footage from the first film to enhance it, and turn it all into a mind-boggling circle-- but still it left so many unaswered questions. They have been talking about making part 5 for years now, and supposedly it would take us to the Tall Man's home planet.

Hello,

Superherohype.com, that usually does articles on upcoming comic book movies, has posted an article on a possible remake or sequel to Cemetery Man aka Dellamorte, Dellamore.

No one had been cast yet, but the script is going to be based on the italian comic series 'Dylan Dog', which the first movie was based on.

Here is the article:

Dead of Night

What do you think? Opinions, wishes, desires?

Ah, well, considering I think Rupert Everett is just dreamy (Those *cheekbones*! I could cut my hand on them!) I'd love to see him recast again, but I'll bet he's too *famous* for that now.

(and, um, i also believe he's gay, but that's not confirmed.  sigh.  such a loss for poor me!)

I just wonder where they could possibly take the storyline, what with the ending of the original.  It'd be a shame to make a horribly wretched sequel, but that seems to be the Hollywood formula nowadays; take a (semi)successful movie, try to cash in on it however possible, and make a terrible sequel.  We've seen that happen a bajillion times before.

So, much as I'd love to see *any* decent movie revolving around a cemetery, I say better to let sleeping dogs lie.

:asthanos:  <--- as opposed to beating a dead horse...

I thought I would start a proper thread for all horror remakes, and not do one seperately each time, so if it is not too much trouble, could you please merge the Dead of Night, Phantasm etc topics into this one please Daniel or Leilah??

Well ok, I've got another horror remake for you all, and that is for 'Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things'. Now Leilah I am sure that on your page you list that was one of your all time favourite movies?

I have yet to see the original so I cannot comment on it, but here is the article from upcominghorrormovies.com:

Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things

There isn't that much information as yet, but keep your eyes on the website for more info, along with the other horror remakes I've posted.

They also have articles on new horror movies of course, and if you click on a particular movie, down the left hand side you will notice a section called 'Category' with such titles as 'zombies' or 'remake' etc.

If you click on 'zombie' etc it will give you a list of all the zombie movies currently in production, with their description, and if you click on the name it will take you to that page.

Furthermore, if you check the top of the page you will notice other categories such as Vampires, werewolves etc, click on those and it will give you another list of vampire movies etc in production and so forth.

I can't believe they would re-make that one.... wasn't the original cheesy enough?

I am waiting, right now, for when the new Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie makes it to video. I have read the books over and over for years - they are hysterical. And I have seen the BBC television version many times... From the commercials, it seems that Hollywood have once again taken something and fucked it up so bad as to be unrecognizable....

I want to see the damn thing just out of spite, so I can bitch my way through the whole thing....  :banghead:
