I make comics, and a lot of them are on-line at http://www.opi8.com under the heading "White Noise"... so I'm looking at other people's stuff constantly.  Right now, I'm very taken with:
***Jon Morris: http://www.ape-law.com/jeremy  I had the good fortune to do a story with John on the www.opi8.com site for the White Noise collection of comics called "When Your Gravity Fails."  He's a brilliant cartoonist with a very warm, expressive style.  His strip about the youngest son of Frankenstein, "Jeremy" was a well-loved webcomic institution for years.  Check out http://www.wheoum.com for his latest work.
***Steve Lieber: http://www.unrewarding.com/steve/  I've never been so lucky as to work with Steve, but he is super-great, and one of the most talented (and charming) men in comics.  His work with Greg Rucka on "Whiteout" earned him a well-deserved Eisner award.
***Theo Galaday: http://www.galaday.com/  I did a comic with Theo called "Wulf and Eadwacer" for the White Noise collection on www.opi8.com - he currently works, I believe, for an animation company in Texas.  The amazing thing about that gorgeous painted style of his - it's not painted!  He does everything digitally!  As far I know, he works pretty exclusively on a whackum tablet, and then just adds layers and layers and layers of color with Photoshop.  He's an extraordinary talent.
***Trevor Brown: http://www.babyart.org/  Trevor Brown produces seriously twisted art, most of it airbrushed, that has been featured in a series of Japanese books that I have snatched up eagerly for the last couple of years now.  Man... this stuff is doubleplusevil... and it's great.
***James Woodward: http://www.vonphantasi.com  I've done a couple of comics with James, both for his project, "These Things Happen" and for the White Noise collection (both at opi8).  He's got a wonderful way with watercolors and an unerring sense of composition.
Well, five different artists is probably enough to start with, but man.... there are so many more.  Seriously, this is what I think about all day.
