Wow! Darky, welcome back!

Sounds like a great find! Can you post a picture of the painting? I'd love to see it!

I have "found" many things over the years. I think I sent you some of them...   :rose:

But by far the best find was the TWO RINGS, which were not found by me, as you know.

"One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
0ne Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them"

Besides that, I have found wine, zucchini, numerous bones, many coffin bits and bronzes, marble, wishing wells, cups, radishes the size of tomatoes, old newspaper winding sheets, hair, clothes, graveclay...and the list goes on and on...

Glad you're back

:rose:

Leilah, I wouldn't know how to post a picture of it.  Graveclay?  Describe/explain graveclay.  Sounds very yummy.   :eyemouth: You must have a collection to beat all collections.  I would pale in comparison.  I found a Hennessey bottle from a long ago valentine's day (it has a silk rose in it and written on it was the words I Love You.  .....a few of those long bottled candles with saints on them (one was Lazarus saint of the poor)   :headbang: .....feltlike reindeer......funeral signs....funeral home shopping bags.....funeral home pens.....if it's not on top of a grave into my cemetery bag it goes.  I'd never take anything displayed on a grave and left by a loved one.  Well, unless it's almost February 1st and that's the day they clean off all Christmas items.  I can't see some of these treasures hitting the trash so I lift them.  I always respectfully thank the dead.

Love,

Wecome back Darky.  I missed you.  Glad you're having fun.  I am too, in my own demented way.  Enjoying watching the vile status quo falling apart, and all.  :eyemouth:

rip Not much to find out here in the PNW (protestant northwest), but I did run across a ribbon from a funeral wreath with the word "brother" on it.  I took it right up to the Temple and put it under my little brother's coffin cross. :rose:

As we have finished our sculpture project, we rewarded ourselves with a trip to Chicago, and of course I spent time roaming its marvelous cemeteries--Mount Carmel, Bohemian National, and Queen of Heaven (to name a few)--and taking hundreds of pictures.  Cemeteries are places out of time, and there is always that wonderful peace within their walls; especially the big old ones.  I feel as if my soul has been refreshed, and now I have lots of material for prints and drawings. :rose:  rip  :rose:

One cool thing that I was able to do is to make a flexible rubber mold from a tomb that was near to my family's plot.  The figure was covered with lichen, which the mold pulled off (the figure came out looking much cleaner, so I guess you could say we did him/her a favor) and when I cast the form in plaster, the plaster sucked off the lichen so that it's now embedded in the little statue that I have.  It's a wonderful memento! Wish I could do some of the big ones, but I'm sure that would attract the wrong kind of attention....

I'm off to the cemetery sometime tonight as part of my New Year celebrations. I am going to wander among the tombs with my friends and reflect on the past year, what I want for the future and give reverance always to Azrael.

I would absolutely love to have a NYE party (or any) in my cemetery, thought just a small group. We have some lovely ones nearby for Brisbane, and I would just use a small stereo so it wasn't too loud, and burn jasmine candles and incense, with a bottle of absinthe and nibblies on a picnic blanket with my friends.

Do most people here go to the cemeteries alone, or do you constantly organise outings? Back in the day it was common for my friends to wander around at least once a week morning or night, take photos and just soak up the atmos.

It was always common to bump into like-minded people there wandering through the graves, now I'm sad to say that there is hardly a living soul there anymore to appreciate it.

It seems people are more keen to hang out at shopping centres or stuck in front of their game consoles than appreciate true culture  :cussing:
