WOW!!! I WANT TO GO TO COLMA!
Gee, reading the descriptions you guys gave, it sounds like nothing but PARADISE to me!!!
I just **LOVE** cemeteries... now imagine, a whole city of cemeteries? oh my, I should be living there, not here!
This is a fact, I have much more affinity to the dead ones than to the ones alive. :death2:

Yeah, Colma is truly the U.S's "City of the Dead".  There's an excellent book that I can recommend that features many of the more "interesting" cemeteries (including Colma) in the US called "Going Out in Style". I'm sure you can get it at Amazon.

If you love cemeteries, Colma is a MUST SEE and experience city as well as nearby Oakland for the wonderful Mountainview Cemetery and Chapel of the Chimes.

Hi Lelieh! Thanks for the welcome back!:rose: Dean will certainly receive your hug!!
I'm sorry to say that I have not seen the black angel you spoke of. I've never entered or exited Cypress from the front gate, only by jumping walls from park to park. Dean and I walked into the Jewish cemetary next door and we were completely drawn to Cypress. Our feet literally pulled us its direction.  We ended up jumping the stone wall into Cypress and we didn't even know which cemetary we were in until we found the back gate a couple hours later! But, we knew we entered a magical realm and we were giggling and our spirits soared at such an amazing place. :jump: Azrael's energy is particularly thick there. We found the stairs leading to the bottom floor of the crypt. So, magical to walk down this natural corridor where Death's feet have stepped! It's another dimension down there.
We jumped so many fences that day! Each one leading us onto another adventure among the graves! It was great! Just one huge, ongoing minagerie of tombs! Definately a place of pilgrimage!
To anyone who would like to visit Colma, I offer my place to stay during your visit. It's about 45 minutes away by car and an hour away by subway, but it is very easy to get too. And it would be extremely easy to just stay in the parks all night long! It's a world of it's own, but also a short walk to town for refueling supplies! I, of course, would be your partner in crime and offer my services to drop you off and pick you up! Can you resist such an offer?!!!:deal: Amorte!

WHOA!!!  City of the dead...a Necropolis.....I'm so there.  ;)  I get the first stay in a deep, dark crypt.  Have to hang a "No disturb" sign on the gate.  ;)  It's bigger than Green-Wood???  Green-Wood is 478 acres BIG and houses 600,000 dead and growing.  Sorry to repeat myself here...but I need facts and figures.....aaaaaaah.

Love,
 darky

R.S. That statue is to your left after you enter the main gate. Just follow the road that borders the left edge of the cemetery and you CANNOT miss it. It is a towering piece of work.

Hey Darky, Greenwood could fit 10 times or more into the city of Colma which is all cemeteries about the size of Greenwood, give or take. Not nearly as OLD as Greenwood, (being the west coast and all) but equally as elaborate! You'd love it there!

Will ya bury me there. Leilah???  Will ya ???  Huh huh.  Green-Wood dates back to the mid 1800's.  The dirt is very sweet there though.  As are the gravestones....OK...I must be buried in Green-Wood.  Cremate first...then bury.  That sounds so yummy.  NoBODY better dare plunge that trocar into this angel and embalm her or I'll come back and haunt 'em.  Funny how once you're dead the final decisions are in your family's hands.  That's why I only donated a few organs for harvesting...dont' think my family could handle my whole body being handed over to science......:)

Love,

That's it...ROAD TRIP.....:2bounce:  One day maybe ALL of us can meet in Colma and have a giant replay of getting busted in Greenwood (N.O.) like we did in October

THAT sounds like fun!

Seriously, no doubt ALL of us here could be as visible as a needle in a haystack in Colma!
