surely the title of the thread clearly states what i have in mind. i decided to start this topic because i found a wonderfull statement that i wanted to share but didn't know where to put it. here it is:

ARTIST GENERAL'S WARNING:
Conformity is addictive.
Don't abuse it.

                   - Michael Masley

( he's a Berkeley, CA. musician.)

I like your quote, Holden. Conformity runs rampant in the small town I live in. Here are mine. Both are from bumperstickers:

"Duct Tape is like the Force: It has a light side, a dark side, and it binds the galaxy together."

"Argue not with dragons, for thou art crunchy and go well with brie."

I can't wait to see what kinda posts this thread spawns. Send in the quotes, peoples! :eyemouth:

My favorites?  That are non-death-related?  How about:

"Children are horrible, aren't they?  Cruel, vicious, nasty little brutes.  When I was growing up, I used to think I hated everyone, but once I got older I realized it was just children I didn't like."

I had to paraphrase that one as I can't for the life of me recall who said it to look it up...I believe it was W. H. Auden, perhaps?  I fear I'm having a blonde moment.

And this gem:

"Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid."
~John Wayne

More bumperstickers

"If only closed minds came with closed mouths."  :headbang:
"The only trouble with Baptist is that they don't hold them under long enough".
"Eat right, exercise... die anyway".
"It's been lovely but I have to scream now".
"Focus on your own damn family".
"I took a pain pill.  Why are you still here?"
"It's your hell.  You burn in it."
"Who lit the fuse on your tampon?"
"Wanna taste of religion?  Bite a priest."
"Keep honking while I reload".
"If you are against abortion... don't have one".
"Your kid might be an honor student but you're still a fucking idiot".

i could create a monumental list, but here's two that i can think of at the moment...

"If I lose the light of the sun, I will write by candlelight, moonlight, no light. If I lose paper and ink I will write in blood on forgotten walls. I will write always. I will capture nights all over the world and bring them to you." - Henry Rollins

"Be still when you have nothing to say; when genuine passion moves you, say what you've got to say, and say it hot." --D.H. Lawrence

today i came upon another statement worth sharing, but i'd like to build up to it with the story of the circumstance in which i found it...
y'all know what an "artcar" is, right? (if not, go to the links section of this website & click on the third link under the Fine Art & Verse category for an example of 1 such creation.)
on the way back from lunch to here (the downtown library) today, i came upon an artcar. this one was a van richly decorated with beads buttons broken mirror pieces shells, DOLLS IN THE WINDOWS & ON THE ROOF  :clap2:  etc. etc. (no way can a brief description do this thing justice) and several messages, including this 1 on a sign in 1 of the windows:

I MADE THIS WHILE YOU WATCHED T.V.

inspired me & made my day i'll tell you! :color:

another thought for the day:

"What we call "I" is just a swinging door which moves when we inhale & exhale."
