First of all, I live here, and I can tell you that the facts are being buried by the seafood lobby industry. Let's face it, a LOT of people will go hungry and homeless is Gulf seafood is not bought countrywide. Sadly, even a lot of the shrimpers in this area will NOT eat the seafood themselves nor serve it to their families, but SOME of them WILL go and harvest and sell because that's how they make money. No different in any other industry.
MOST of the shrimpers down here..are pretty honest, decent folk who would not sell something that is bad...but...big business IS big business...and down here, next to BIG OIL...seafood is the second BIG BUSINESS.
If y'all want shrimp from the Gulf Coast (cause it's the VERY BEST) make sure it comes from Galveston Bay!!!
