You're living a truly tortured life right now, Sam!  You have to keep the faith (so to speak) and stay strong.  As they say "This too shall pass."  Work that charm and for gawd sake's don't lose your temper.   :headbang:   K.

My personal belief system is Santeria/Spiritism, though I have taken a break from it for about a year or two.  I found, like all organized spitirtual movements, that it had it's share of fanatics and charlatans, so I pulled back, but still I consider it, "Santeria" my spiritual path.  BTW, in Santeria we have an Orisha, (goddess, of sorts) who rules the graveyards and works closely with the dead.

Santeria, being very traditionally tied to Voodoo, I believe the spirit you speak of is called Oya, or Madam Brigette, goddess of whirlwinds and of the dead, and counterpart to Baron Samedi. Quite a striking pair they make

I had studied santeria a few years back, its a very
interesting religion. some friends & I received the first
initiation and elekes. I personally felt uncomfortable
with the whole chicken slashing, herbal cleansing & ritual.
afterwards I burned the elekes, it all gave me a
"dirty" feeling, so i realized it was not my path.
however, during it all, (it was a 3 day ritual), I was told
Oya was my orisha. I respect the religion, its just not for me.

Santeria, like Voodoo is very heavily steeped in Catholicism, although how much more tolerant it is than any othet xtian offshoot. The Voodoo we see here in the states is a watered down version of the REAL thing practiced in Haiti and certain African regions. Santeria is more of a Latin influenced and slightly "darker" aspect of Voudon practice. It has always held an appeal to me, although, like you Ravin, the animal sacrifice part makes ZERO sense in my book. If you want to make an offering, make it a PERSONAL offering. Do not assume a nother's life is yours to give.
