Good link, T! Unfortunately, as long as xtianity rules many world governments, many who waste away in agony will never get the relief and dignity that both family AND the medical profession know that they deserve. When, o, when will humanity grow up and DEAL with dying as a natural part of LIFE itself!!! :pissedoff:

-The lame excuse is that people 'abuse' euthanasia.

"Hi my name is Bill, and I'm Euthanasia-holic"
"Hiiii Biiiiilll!"
"I started dying, just on the weekend, for kicks you know, but then  I fell in with a bad crowd, the elderly, cripples, amputees, the terminally ill. And they all wanted to die on any given day of the week, and myself being an addictive personality type, I found I coudn't resist the peer pressure. I started calling into work dead, more and more often, when I did show up for work I wasn't much use because of decomposition and rigor mortis, eventually I lost my job and the lack of eyes and ability to actually get up out of my grave made it more and more difficult to find a job......finally I sought help, and so here I am today. With the help of people like you I hope to just accept cruel fate and suffer endlessly as other people's morals intended for the benefit of all of us. Thank you."

        Okay, per'aps I shoulda' been more specific. Doctors who claim the patient wanted it, but without proof, and the family says that the deceased family member wished to live.

Just because it has happened before, 'authorities' assume that it will happen on a very mass scale if made legal everywhere.

ach, did you know suicide is litterally against the law? What are you gonna' do? "You are under arrest! Sir? Sir!?! SIR!!! Well, you do have the right to remain silent..." :banghead:

Although it is my personal opinion that people who commit suicide (suicide, not euthanasia for the already terminal) are selfish, and most of the time cowards- I still think that is a bit ludicrous. :uhoh:

I agree, arresting somebody for his / her attempt of ending his / her life up like he / she committed a homicide is more than ridiculous
People like that need to be HELPED, not caged!
But, go and say this to a zealous Catholic, heh...

Even long after the Christian fallacies die away, there'll be the legal juggernaut built on the same foundation.  Death is black or white - you're either dead or you're not - so it's very easy to see where to initiate a potentially juicy lawsuit.  Causing suffering is far more nebulous - you could say that you caused someone six weeks of constant dry heaves and delirium because otherwise they'd have been in pain that would have been even worse, and there's no proving it either way.

Beyond that, there's families' guilt over not having fully appreciated the dying person.  In an attempt to make up for what they think they let slip through their hands, they keep their loved ones in agony just so as to have more time to prove - only to themselves - that they really do love them.

(Can you tell I'm never going to work in medbiz again?)

Viagra???  Now is that natural???  Life, science and its discoveries absolutely blow me away.....goes to show you what this f**ckin' life does to men.....stress...job loss.....lack o' money....and what's a women's problem???  Do they have something to help them out???  I'm not speaking for myself here.  K.

Hey, you get arrested for attempting to commit suicide???   After the attempt I went into convulsions....*drug overdose*............I can see locking a person up in a psychiatric ward because they tried to take their life...only because there is a deep-seated reason WHY they attempted such an act.  Oh, I wholeheartedly believe in "Euthanasia."  I also write to Dr. Kevorkian.  I believe in "his" work.   :rose:   To "die with dignity" ...........I agree with that.

Indeed, Euthanasia is a huge issue in many different perspectives. I for one agree with this action. A man/woman should be able to die if they so wish. It is not up to anyone to tell you when you should or should not die. This medical view of playing god does not impress me. The medical industry must never forget the fine boundaries between healing and torturing. At the moment, I guess a lot of people are terminally ill, or in intensive care, due to the fact that doctors believe they are one step closer to curing them. Naturally, one step closer means an eternity's wait.

I have a friend who has been on the waiting list to have a knee operation in the UK for 3 years, and she just recieved a letter yesterday saying she will have to wait another 18 months. If they can't treat a patient with a "minor" defficiency like this, how in hell are they going to treat the terminally sick?

I am a dancer and choreographer, and have just finished devising a short piece based on the fact of euthenasia itself. It will be performed shortly, though I do not know when.
