Cloning itself doesn't bother me, but the ethical paradigm of the Raelians does.  They believe in eugenics, they believe in a global government run by an intellectual elite, they believe that through cloning a form of human perfection can be achieved.

The Nazis all over again. In concept,I mean.History all over again. Why would anyone want to create people superior to themselves? Now,I can see the military concept to cloning.
I don't have much to say on this topic.

News from New Jersey: This week our moron of  a govenor signed into law funding for Stem Cell Research.

Hey I'm cool for research, but, dude, there is no FREAKIN MONEY!!!!
Across the board taxes going up, on EVERYTHING. (thereby nullifying any and all tax cuts GWBulshit thinks he's giving out)

Farts are 20 cents each now, you can't even imagine how gassy I am right now but I have to get the most for my money, ya know....

Well anyway, Jersey has state funded stem cell research, we're the first state to do it.

I think I need to organize a religion based on Cro-Mags and Neanderthals, and we throw stones all those other guys who are against any form of evolution of species and knowledge.

ugh ugh.

i can understand cloning to the point of getting rid of terminal illness and having organs harvested from lab cultures, thing of it is outside of those things cloning can do us little if any good..to me it is not a moral issue its more of an issue of over population and the possibility of a diabolical madman raising a vast "army of unidentified assasins." ...another thing is people are not evolved enough to take on the responsibilities of cloning...so long as our world is in the state that it is currently in...so long as the powers that be continue to be driven by greed, malice, and domination...im not really all that crazy about war and violence but in this day in age with the world continously destroying the Earth's natural environment, Im going to have to say that at this present moment in history, War (w/ a capital W) is necessary to balance off human populations on a global scale. The Earth is a living and self aware organism, chances are that right now it sees the human population as quite a nusance kind of like when we people get sick and our bodies attack the source of the disease...so too does the Earth attack it's disease...i think cloning can very much well make that disease even worse and i dont know about you but i dont want to stick around when the shit hits the fan...because in all honesty there will be somebody w/ enough political clout to turn the knowlege of cloning into all out mayhem.

Ok this topic is waaay dead, but O' well. I just thought I'd point out that a clone is just genetic. You know all the science fiction flicks where the clone is the same person, same age, with the same memory...bull shit.Cloning is just spawning a person in a laboratory; that means you a DF toddler no matter who's DNA ya' have. Also contrary to ignorant shits (Would-be science "experts") DNA does not control how you think or how smart you are. Dam I hate it when people turn science into religion.  :cussing:

I remember an interview with one of the scientists who cloned the sheep Dolly.  He said that people were calling him with the idea that they might clone a dying child with the hope of giving the child another life.  He explained to them that they just did not understand the biology at all, that when the child dies, even if he or she is cloned, you will never be able to get that particular child back.  Individuality is not inherited.

I can't help thinking that it would be particularly cruel on the child. The parents would have all the memories of the first child that the clone would be expected to live up to. The clone child would be living in the shadow of the original child and simply would never be good enough. I can hear parents now, 'The scientists got it wrong. My little boy/girl never misbehaved like this clone!' What the hell do we want more people on this already overcrowded planet for anyway!
