I finally wrote another poem....
she sits forlorn in a darkened room,
illuminated by the candle's glow,
that cast looming shadows on the walls.
she stares into the flickering flames
as lonliness settles its leaden arm about her,
and whispers sorrowful sweet nothings in her ear.
the wind rushes through bare trees in a roaring crescendo.
skeletal limbs scratch at the window,
sending snaking chills down her spine.
at once the wind subsides and the boughs grow still.
a light footfall and a rustle of fabric
banishes lonliness to the Winter's night.
subtle scents of jasmine and honeysuckle waft in
on the ghost of a summer's evening breeze,
that catches her breath and floods her being with joy.
he steps out of the shadows-
alabaster skin illuminated like moonlight,
and raven wings hair shimmering in the candlefire.
his cool, pale hands touch her face
as she stares up into his ancient, ebony eyes;
and drowns in the midnight sky reflected there.
"I have not forgotten you."
his melodic voice is the memory of moonlight sparking off
and the twilight blanketing the land in an amethyst haze.
visions of the cemetary at midnight blossom in her mind.
of how the stillness permeated deep within her bones,
and how she longed forever to remain, nestled among the
grass and stones.
he pulls her into the dark haven of his embrace,
that is scented with freshly turned grass and earth,
and of autumn leaves and cool white stones in a mid-winter's
the steady beat of his heart
is the endless ticking of some great clock
that transcends all Time and echoes into Eternity.
his lips meet hers in a feathery-soft kiss,
that hints of cinnamon and vanilla,
and of bittersweet longing.
"our time together is but a fleeting dream of happiness
that eludes our grasp like the silvered moonlight."
his achingly beautiful voice weaves a cloak of sweet
melancholy about her.
"one day," he murmurs, his voice a whisper on the wind,
"we shall never be parted.
I exist for that day and ever shall I long for it."
his night-dark eyes gaze into her soul,
imprinting his memory there;
that no power in heaven or earth can ever erase.
all too soon, he fades into the shadows,
leaving a wistful blue spark of hope
and the soul stirring shroud of his love.
"In the dark of night,
or under blazing sun.
In Sorrow or in Joy-
Ever I will be with you.
And when this life falls away,
I will lead you Home."
